The People Who Made Our Crazy Summer Worth It
|
Originally published 9 August, 2025
Remember how we usually move every 30 days in our RV? Well, this summer we threw that out the window and decided to live like we were running from the law. We've been moving every single week, and honestly, it's... been... wild.
We started at the tail end of Spring by leaving Montana (where we spent the winter - burrrr). We bee-lined it for the Southern Chicago area, visiting our friend Gio at Pizza Di Farfalla. Gio's pizza is incredible (seriously, watch this) and apparently, Dave Portnoy agrees! |

From there, we absolutely flew through:
|
![]() |
Eastern Tennessee for a family pizza party with Ariana's family |
![]() |
Michigan for an epic pizza tour with our friend Tiki Sam |
![]() |
Mackinac Island (we learned the best time to go is in a thunderstorm) |
![]() |
Pittsburgh for amazing pizza and beer with John at Yellowbridge Brewing
|
![]() |
Pittsburgh again to connect with pizza champion Eddie Stalewski |
![]() |
Virginia for another family pizza party with Kyle's family |
|
The best part of this crazy sprint? It wasn't just about the pizza (though there was plenty of amazing pizza). It was about the people. Gio's passion, Tiki Sam's encyclopedic pizza knowledge, John's dough throwing, Eddie's mastery, and all the family moments in between.
We're slowing down a bit to spend the rest of Summer and Autumn in the picturesque state of Connecticut (hello Fall colours)!

By the time we rolled into Pittsburgh, we got ourselves into a tight spot. The RV park entrance was so sharp that our back corner met a very unfriendly (and unmoving) telephone pole. Nothing says "welcome to Pittsburgh" like frantically slapping Eternabond tape on your home while dark clouds roll in! But hey, that's RV life: one minute you're eating incredible pizza, the next you're playing emergency contractor.
At least now we're settled in Connecticut and seriously enjoying the cooler temps on this record hot summer for most of the country. The nights here are in the 50s and 60s, and we're running our AC a lot less, which should save us literally hundreds of dollars a month. Woohoo! In case you don't know, RVs are very poorly insulated. |
Where Will We Go Next? |
|
After we get our fill of Connecticut pizza, sailing, and foliage, we'll head down to South Carolina for the Winter. We're in tune with that snowbird life, and with a house on wheels, there's nothing stopping us!
Our next big dream is to chase pizza internationally by sailboat, so this next chapter will keep us close to water on the East Coast. ๐๐
๐พ Of course, Totoro and Achilles are coming too. |
