We stayed put (mostly) for 60 days and here's what happened...

Not gonna lie, things have been quiet around here. Like we’re-starting-to-wonder-if-we-retired quiet. We've stayed in one place for 2 months now. No border crossings, river crossings, vehicle breakdowns, or spending every weekend packing and unpacking our stuff.

Just us, a pile of firewood, some mossy hiking trails, and the kind of stillness that makes you start noticing weird things (like recognizing some of your neighbors 😂). It’s been beautiful and bizarrely unfamiliar, and it got us thinking about what it means to "live the dream" in a different gear. We can find magic and even adventure in the simplest of things, so long as they bring us joy (and we bring the right mindset).

So why the sudden shift? In between forest walks and fireside breakfasts, our furry friend and fellow pizza connoisseur, Achilles had a sudden health scare. After 11 years of perfect health, he started having seizures. Following a late-night ER visit, we learned he has a brain tumor. The good news? He’s responding well to meds, regaining his energy, and still loves frolicking around the forest on our long walks. We’ve been savoring the slower pace, including more snuggles and play.

Without the chaos of packing up camp or hunting down a new spot to sleep, we’ve had time to reminisce. Like just how far we’ve come in 3 years: two major overlanding trips (Alaska! Moab!), hundreds of pizzas, dozens of new friends, and a lot of learning. Our lives and our mental memory banks are very full, and it's still almost like we're just getting started :)

This winter, we’re heading south... Our next base? A beach in South Carolina, and the very first spot we ever parked our RV when we started this journey three years ago! We’re coming full circle.
